NEW CULTURAL CENTER DISTRICT
Cultural Center of the Philippines National Design Competition
Entering from Roxas Boulevard, every visitor is afforded a tree-collonaded visual corridor punctuated by two plazas. Abounding are lines of sculptures, reliefs and installation art works. This visual and tactile experience is heightened by a water canal concluding at water features that adorn each of the two plazas.
The plazas itself serve as freespace and way-finding instruments that establish main pedestrian approaches to the Main Performing Arts Theater and the New Performing Arts Theater. Designed with breathtaking sightlines towards Manila Bay and its famous sunset, the plazas likewise provide a unique experience of Manila at any time of day.
