Primarily designed as a 600-person permanent multi-event tent structure for the Shangri-La Mactan Island Hotel & Resort, The Marquee’s inaugural use was the 2007 ASEAN Ministerial Meeting gala dinner hosted by the Philippines. The 1,300 square meter interior is dressed with a custom-designed broadloom carpet and cocooninspired chandeliers and supported by dedicated restrooms and back-of-the-house facilities. The design included significant landscaping of a 100-meter walkway from the main hotel building to The Marquee to pedestrianize and provide a vehicular drop-off.
